LIFE CYCLES

Students working in their mini inquiry groups chose a medium of presentation of their research findings like clay models, collage and power point presentation. They presented their work creatively and peer assessed each other by using a checklist.

PATTERNS

Patterns

Students were introduced to the concept of Patterns through the book- ‘ My mum and dad make me laugh’ which emphasized on patterns of dots and stripes. They then explored patterns in their immediate environment. They furthered their understanding of the concept by creating their own patterns and extending the given patterns. 

They made ‘Pattern Qulits’ where they wrote unit related words on the given shapes. They arranged the shapes creating a pattern for their quilts. This learning engagement was transdisciplinary in nature as it integrated Literacy, Arts and Numeracy with the unit.

Student Led Conference

Student Led Conference

Kindergarteners had their first Student Led Conference on 22^nd and 23^rd March 2012.

They had started preparing for the conference since the beginning of the term. Children chose samples of their work which they felt proud of. They also reflected on their strengths and areas of improvement. During the conference, children played games with their parents, which required them to apply the skills learnt in class

Children greeted their parents formally and took them through their learning journey in 30 minutes. They shared their learning from the unit and took their parents through the entire unit flow. Some children chose to express themselves in their own mother tongue. They enjoyed sharing and discussing their portfolio with their parents and are already looking forward to their next conference.
